My shop has been open for 14+ months now. It has been a huge success and a plus to the community. I have made a great number of new friends and connections in this short time. It has, however, become a burden on my time. Shortly after my husband and I returned from France, we started thinking of how our lives have changed so much since the shop has opened, time spent in the shop, weekends open and no employees. All these things mean that me and only me, is responsible to be there in order to make this business thrive. I knew this going in and I know it today as I write this blog. It does not mean that I have to accept it.
Having a business is difficult enough but add employees into the mix and it becomes an even bigger "hairdo", as I call it. Too much to deal with, too much drama. I did not nor do I want that. Government issues, taxes, etc. are just not what I want to deal with when it comes to running a small business. I want this venture to be fun. One thing I have always promised myself is that when this business is no longer fun that I would close the doors and move on. Well, that decision has been made.
August 15 will be the last that Cottage Vintage Home will be open for business. Know that it breaks my heart to do this, however, I must move on to bigger and better things for myself. I want to thank everyone in the Vancouver and Portland area who have supported this endeavor with me. Your support and belief in my shop has, in part, helped me to make this decision. Your continued support will be appreciated in my venture that I will announce very soon.
So please visit the store while you still can. It is business as usual up until that August 15 date. Also note that the September 1 and Uber Chic container sale in September have both been cancelled.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and I wish you all well.
